Ex-members of the important Venetian folk group Calicanto,
Rachele Colombo and Corrado Corradi are today the main players in a new
musical project which sees them elaborate with skill the sounds, songs and moods of both
Venice and beyond. Their music is inspired by common tales, shared observations, the
fragments of our everyday lives and all those aspects of it which are universal, such as
the sea, sky, night-time, misty weather, rivers, flowers; symbols which are often
representative of our feelings. All these sensations are presented in a tranquil, delicate
and optimistic light you see an infinite dawn rather than a twilight when you
listen to tracks such as "Ridi Bepi", "Come le viole",
"Disgelo", "Caigo", "I papaveri di Fedora". This is an
album guaranteed to bring a shiver of emotion, an album to be enjoyed in its entirety.
Racheles splendid voice (which floats
amidst guitars, synthesisers and percussion instruments) and the expressive power of the bandanéon
and Corrados concertina are effective, inventive and yet simple conveyors of light
and colours, of a world of sounds full of influences and fragile emotions. Catchy
melodies, soft yet modern sounds which emphasise the beauty of the dialect of contemporary
poetry of the Veneto region which is a vivid reminder of cultural and ancestral roots. Archedora
thus manages, with true taste and intelligence, to combine past with present, reality
with memories, East with West, and for this reason must be heralded as an important and
profound contribution to the Italian folk music scene. |
